Test Drive New FireFox 4 Beta

Test drive the new Firefox 4 Beta and let the designers know what you think. Giving feedback to software design companies is a great way to offer your input about any bugs or defects in the programs they release.
As a web designer, I test code in many different browsers, and there’s nothing wrong with testing out a beta and replying to them with your opinions. Let them know what games work, how fast pages and videos load, and whether your favorite add-ons are compatible with the new version of Firefox. Let them know what websites have problems and if everything functions normally. My experience indicates no problems with the new Firefox 4.0, and my add-ons, including the webmaster toolbar, all work just fine.
You can even take Firefox 4 with you on your Android phone or Nokia N900 and enjoy all your favorite features such as add-ons, Sync, and the Awesome Bar anywhere you go.
Test drive the new Firefox 4 Beta and let them know what you think. From a web designer’s perspective, Firefox is probably the most useful website browser available. Keep posted on my website and blog for news, tips and advice in website design and other internet related topics.
DupeFree Pro Version 2 Beta Update

The soon release of DupeFree Pro’s version 2 prompted the need for testers to work with an early version of the software. Being in it’s final stages of development, DupeFree Pro is looking for those willing to try out the new software and provide feedback. Participants will be asked to try out the software and discuss any improvements and bugs.
DupeFree Pro is a program useful to writers, that tests for word count, keyword density and duplicate content online. If everything goes to plan, the first version available to the public should be available in 6 to 8 weeks. To become a part of the team of software testers, simply submit a ticket stating why you should be a tester, your Windows operating system and how if ever you’ve used DupeFree Pro in the past. DFP v2 is initially going to be compatible with the Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7
Those chosen to participate in this project will be offered a very special deal when DFP v2 is released publicly as a thank you for any time and effort. As well as getting a copy of DupeFree Pro v2 to play with, testers will get access to a private forum area to communicate with DupeFree Pro and other beta testers. This will be the central area for logging in and working on bugs and issues. Please note this is a closed private beta with a limited number of slots availible, and DupeFree Pro is looking for users who really make use of the current program and who want to help shape v2.

Tips, Advice and Suggestions for 10/10/10

CodeRepair’s score is much like today’s date, 10/10/10; a 10 in quality, 10 in search engine optimization, and a 10 in advanced coding. Perhaps in commemoration to binary code, today could be a great day to launch a new custom CMS website design, or even start writing on a new blog.
Learn how to count to 1,023 in binary on your fingers. Hug your computer and digital devices because without binary they wouldn’t exist. Make a note on social media websites that today is 10/10/10 and perhaps a great day to get married because you’ll always remember the anniversary.
Shatter based GreenPois0n jailbreak for fourth generation Apple i-devices such as iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, and iPad are ready to release at 10:10am GMT today. Jailbreaking is a process that allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to run any code on their devices, as opposed to only that code authorized by Apple. Those not supported include the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and the iPod touch 3G.
Greenpois0n is a multi-platform jailbreak for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It uses the SHAtter exploit, and is a very simple and easy to use GUI jailbreak. An exploit is a piece of software, a chunk of data, or sequence of commands that take advantage of a bug, glitch or vulnerability in order to cause unintended or unanticipated behavior to occur on computer software.

Inexpensive Laptop Developed in India
What is considered the most inexpensive laptop has recently been developed by the Elite Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Kapil SibalKapil Sibal, the HRD minister of India, unveiled this cheapest laptop with a price tag of 1,500 rupees ($35) in July.
This tablet PC is expected to be available in the market by the year 2011 and can do everything your desktop can at a price lower than the cheapest cell phones. The device has combined features of the iPad and tablet PC and can even be run on solar power. This Linux-based touchscreen computing prototype is equipped with an internet browser, 2 Gigabytes of RAM, media player, video-conferencing capability, wifi connectivity and USB ports. The intent behind the new computing device is to give the students a better education and technical skills needed to boost India’s economic growth, with the first users expected to be university students.
This news of such an inexpensive laptop could increase who gets online now due to such a low price almost anyone could afford. Browsing on tablets may display slightly different than on a desktop or laptop computer. Due to my practices in web design, a website design by CodeRepair would appear properly on such devices as well as those STILL yet to come in the future.
News of Google Instant Results

Google Instant Results is a new feature automatically integrated with Google now to make our lives easier. Perhaps you noticed on your last Google website search that results began showing up as you typed your query. The news of this added feature has made web design related research much smoother for me.
Google Instant search is changing search engines with faster, more accurate search results. Your website search streams results in real time as you type each letter, therefore giving you the power to scan matches as you complete the search. Google has stated this predictive search could increase productivity at work by saving an average of 2 to 5 seconds per query.
The Google search engine even gives you the option to turn Instant off if you’re uncomfortable with it. If you don’t have Google Instant Results yet it should be available to you soon being Google intends to make the feature available to users across the globe.
Viral Infections on Facebook

I’ve been hearing a lot about viruses spreading on Facebook and seeing it personally from friends who have been infected on the social media site. Recent infections on Facebook are growing “virally”, pardon the pun. Review these tips and advice to avoid potential problems on the social media website.
You normally get one of these viruses from a friend who was unknowingly infected. They could come from a simple message, or a “video of you”. These viruses can take your personal information to log into your account and cause you to spread them to your circle of friends as well.
The most recurring one, called the “Koobface”, gives you a link to a video with “you” in it, and when you attempt to play it, you get an error message saying you need to download a file to update your Adobe Flash software. Now this “flash_player.exe” file contains the malicious Koobface code.
Another bit of advice involves keeping an eye on and adjusting your privacy settings in Facebook. There is a new privacy setting on Facebook called “Instant Personalization” that shares data with non-Facebook websites and it is automatically set to “Allow.” Go to Account > Privacy Settings > Applications and Websites > Instant Personalization > Edit Settings, and uncheck “Allow”. If your Facebook friends don’t do this, they will be sharing information about you.
Just a heads up to keep alert and watch what you click on. Some of the applications on social media websites can spread infections as well. Personally I’ve always stayed away from game applications such as Mob Wars and Farmville, but proceed at your own discretion. There’s always going to be a threat of some kind somewhere, but the point is to be educated about it to avoid headaches in the future.
Goodbye Cell Phones, Hello SmartPhones

Cell phones have evolved from huge, heavy, bulky, awkward mobile devices into the slim, light, handheld touchscreen smartphones we see today. They are thought of as handheld computers integrated within a mobile phone that are capable of using literally thousands of online applications. Such applications allow the user to watch movies, check email, Skype, connect on Twitter and Facebook, enable GPS, check weather conditions, access music, and so much more.
These handheld devices come in many varieties, shapes and sizes. Some of the most popular handheld devices include the iPhone, Blackberry PDA and Motorola Droid, and often come equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, spanning varieties such as handheld PC’s, palmtops and PDA’s. Some of the most popular brands include Nokia, Motorola, Sony, Dell, Sharp, Verizon, LG, the Apple iPhone, and T-Mobile Sidekick. From the smaller palmtops and handheld PC’s, these electronic devices bridge the gap between notebooks, netbooks and tablets.
Many people get Android and Droid confused. Droid is a phone created by Motorola sold by Verizon and Android is a cell phone operating system created by Google. The Droid has Android 2.0 installed on it.
One of the newest versatile Android tablets is the Dell Streak. This versatile Android tablet comes in a 5, 7 and 10 inch. This handheld device sits between smartphones and larger notebooks and tablets commonly used today.
To justify it’s existence, the Streak needed to excel over other smartphones and provide a rich multi-media experience. Staying a step ahead of cutting edge technology is the only way for a mobile device to survive. Keeping current and informed about how high tech devices can simplify your life may be advantageous to you.
Internet Explorer 9 with Accelerated HTML5

Next month Microsoft will launch the beta version of Internet Explorer 9 with accelerated HTML5. The intent of this software giant’s next-generation web browser is to allow “a more beautiful web that feels native on Windows,” says Microsoft.
IE9 will be available in a public beta release for the first time on September 15th, 2010 at Microsoft’s event in San Francisco. Microsoft formally releases the new version at its “Beauty of the Web” event in hopes to wow people and fend off any competition from such rivals as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
IE9′s integration of HTML5 with full hardware acceleration is clearly a first step and it is good for Microsoft to be behind HTML5 – Al Hilwa, Director of Applications Software Development at the International Data Corporation
IE9′s features are based upon using the power of the whole PC to achieve the greatest websurfing experience. Internet Explorer 9 began from the premise of the internet delivering HTML5 experiences which feel more like a native application than a website. If you are still using Windows XP and would like to use Internet Explorer 9, you’ll need to upgrade to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in order to run this browser.
In order to find out what version of Internet Explorer you are running, simply go to the ‘Help’ tab on your web browser toolbar and choose the option ‘About Internet Explorer’. To find out what version of Windows you are currently running, click on “Start” on your taskbar, type “run” in the searchbox, and in the run dialog box type “winver” and click OK. A window will display the exact version of Windows you are running and any service packs installed.
Post update: The IE9 Beta has been released and I’m currently using it. I like the new feel to it with the Windows Vista operating system, with a few subtle changes. Download Download Internet Explorer 9 now and enjoy a better browsing experience. Simply choose your language and Windows version then click download.
